Daria in Dreamland

Daria wakes up in the middle of the night and sees a blinding white light. She tries to speak but finds she cannot move. Everything suddenly plunges into total blackness, for a few seconds until the light reappers and slowly fades away. She looks up to see several elongated gray faces above her. "Maybe I shouldn't have taken that medication.." she thinks groggily. One of the faces turns and looks at another. "Does anyone, er, thing want to give me some shred of a clue what's going on? Quinn's not here too is she?" A thought enters her mind, but it's not her own,"No, we've already studied many teenagers of her mind range, we were looking for someone more complex." "Well, I think you found her, just don't keep me here to long, I've got school in the morning." "I don't think you have to worry too much about that, see you might as well be sleeping now because we've temporarly slowed down time so you won't be missed." " You guys can seriously do that." "Oh yes, we have been for quite sometime now." "So are you guys going to suck out my brain and feed it to your terrifying jumbo space rats?" "Uh, not exactly." "Damn, some excitment here would be nice." "I'm sure. Tell me, you say things, but you sound almost as though you really don't mean them. Do you humans often do this? Is there a name for it?" "Do I? I didn't really notice." "You seem to you doing it again." "I've got to learn to stop that." "Seriously now, what is this called?" "If I tell you will you promise to attack and destry the planet Earth and make all the pathetic members of the human race slaves to toil in your mines for ever and ever with very little food and no escape without death." "Just tell us, you seem to be doing it again." "It's called sarcasm, a verbal form of irony used to emphasize in writing and speech." "I see." " Look can I go back now? I always thought that if I was abducted by aliens you would do something a little more interesting, like putting a cancer causing microcomputer in my neck." "Those were a defective disaster, it was all a mistake!" "I really need to get back." The bright light comes again.

End of story...
