Jake is Daria's father.  He works as a marketing consultant, and really doesn't seem to want to deal with the family at home, although he is intereseted in cooking.  He reads the paper a lot.  He is very uptight about money, and when he's under too much stress he has a tendency to blow a blood vessel in his eye.  Although he usually agrees with Helen, he seems to sympathize with Daria.
